Beyond the verses laced with repititious sound
Past the stage the glows from all the lights around
There’s a melody trying to sing.

Beneath the smiles, laughter and comraderie
Is the worry, doubt and utter disbelief
That the draw from this lifestyle can bring.

There’s a long road up ahead
No pun intended, no such thing as easy does it
I’m in this for the long haul.
Hope is on my side, fate’s overrated.

It’s when the lights go down, the real work must begin
When no one’s watching’s when your sense of pride sets in
It’s the selfless, part of the deal.

You try your best to hide the tired from your eyes
And if discovered try your best to act surprised
The rewards you are seeking are so far from real.

It’s the long road up ahead
No pun intended, no such thing as easy does it
I’m in this for the long haul.
Hope is on my side, fate’s overrated.

If dreams are worth believing
Then they’re sure worth workin’ towards
And wings were made so man could fly
And that’s what faith is for.
